Ok so I would like to update my skills in photography a bit. I have photoshop and not a clue how to use it. Does anyone know of any good resources that I could use to go about a bit of learning. Thanks

Which version of Photoshop? What do you want to do with your photos is probably more important, Photoshop is the ultimate of photo editing software in most aspects but it's a bit heavy if you just want to balance some colours and play with your contrasts.

I process most of my photos in Lightroom, anything heavy and serious I'll jump into CS5 but that's not often.

I have 6.0 there's nothing specifically I want to do with my photos but just I suppose learn a bit about how to use it. I tried lightroom a bit a while ago and got on a bit better than with potoshop but still no clue what I was doing. If you'd info on what to do with lightroom I'd give that a go aswell.

I'd reccomend a lightroom book like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adobe-Photoshop-Lightroom-Digital-Photographers/dp/0321700910/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1303240687&sr=8-3

his jokes are a bit dad like but its very comprehensive and easy to learn from.

My workflow is about 80% lightroom. Lightroom is much better at speed editing than photoshop so you can cut down to the core photos that you want to work with, and apply some good filters and effects through it, although most the serious editing gets done on photoshop with some big-gun filter packages (Potraiture, Color Efex, Silver Efex, YSI and a bazillion action sets). to be honest though if youre just starting out lightroom will do most of what you need it to do and do it well and be much more intuitive.

I used that Lightroom book and watched a load of screencasts of other photographers working on images. For the most part Lightroom will do everything you need it to unless you want to get into the heavier aspects of editing.

The Lynda ones are good, bafflingly I was told that there's actually a load of videos accessible from in Lightroom so I should probably hit up the help menu a bit more often.
