reviving an old night out?
« on: December 26, 2010, 11:10:11 pm »

is there any way of going about reviving and re-opening an old club night, like blackout or the old friday arena nights, when going out was actually fun lol. doesnt have to be in the same places but its the music and the people that made the atmosphere. i mean im surprised they ever stopped doing those kind of nights.

anyway, your thoughts? would you go if they were brought back to life?

start up a night with the same music policy and get the same people to go, see if it works?
p.s going out is still fun, you must be going to the wrong places, have shit mates, or be getting old and past it

i think its a combination of all three lol, i think i must have a jaded memory of those times and think that they were a million times better than what there is to offer nowdays, or maybe i just enjoyed going out more then.

what is there on offer now, i mean the first things that come to my mind are the nights on offer from the empire on friday and saturday.

depends what music you like? i think boro has quite a lot going on for somewhere so small/shit. i dont really like the place much but still have a good night out there (even though i feel old cos certain places seem to be full of 18 year old divvys) I think tenfeettall having the monopoly over most of the nightlife in town is a bit crap and samey aswell but theres nowt you can really do about that and at least they are putting plenty of stuff on.

i know what you mean about the tenfeettall thing being the samey. i like a bit of everything thats rock or metal, retro 80s stuff. just none of the indie rubbish type stuff. so imagine the old sumo rock room, they had a good splattering of stuff playing.

it was ages ago on a saturday i think when they introduced that metropolis night thing, they started setting off those indoor sparkly firework things and all the smoke machines came on, and then these people came out on the balconys and had boxes of rubber toy snakes and were throwing them into the dancefloor (i imagine that would give someone afraid of snakes a heart attack lol) and anyway i grabbed one as it was coming down then this jerk ripped it out of my hand.

so i shouted something in his face and he started pushing at me so i just grabbed his throat and squeezed it, anyway he backed off coughing and curling up, i have big hands so i imagine it was not pleasant, someone once said i had spade hands, and i can hold a basketball with one hand lol. so i suppose im good at strangling and digging  :thumb

I think alot of the time you do look back on nights and mostly remember the good bits. Lots of people I know whinged about Blackout/Arena etc when they were running, now the same people don't like whats about now and want those nights back.

I like the new Haxed by the way, might start coming back more often!

Yeah that.

Same with Blaises. It was rubbish, but you just remember it because you went there with all your mates.

We all moaned about DJ Chippy at the crown, but at least it was busy!
