from the sounds of it, its going to be permanently fixed in the wall? from a practical point of view id just chase the wall out and have a bracket at the back so the tv is still removeable. another issue is the cooling of the tv, they give off a lot fo heat so blocking it all in may cause an issue? im not sure, but i guess you have researched this already for the cooling and cables etc.

That's the plan. Paying a av specialist installer to do all the work. Will be hanging and on a angle so cooling should be cool enough

Thats a good idea. Looks class has a 5 year guarantee so that's pretty good.

Got loads of class stuff, got some tin robots, some robot socks, some robot pants and a robot badge. Couple of books (including Simon Peggs awesome autobiography), a fake mustache set, a chunk o the cash cash money, a Sigma 18-50 2.8 lens (no excuse not to get involved in photo a day), Mexican lager with a chilli in it and a poncho holder with a tequila shot. Loads of other bits too, good Christmas haul!

I'd contemplate this:

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/5058156/art/panasonic/viera-tx-p50s20b-50-full.html

50", 1080P, only 649 quid. However i already have a 50" TV so while the picture would be brighter, I don't have anything massive to gain from it just yet. I'm probably going to give it another year and see what is out then as I still think 3D is in its infancy to be splashing out crazy money on all the gear when it could change very quickly. The only way to get native 3D programming is to let sky ream you up the arse, games would be decent but not 1700 decent and it would piss me off sitting on a set of glasses or something when they're about 60-80 quid to replace. Would also piss me off having people round and having to have glasses for them to wear unless you got loads with them, but I imagine prices for those will come down to be honest. I imagine it will become mainstream much as HD did despite naysayers, but I don't think necessarily right now, which gives plenty of time for prices to go shit crazy in the mean time. Once you can (easily) pirate it, I'll start to think about it, but at present the only tv shows that get watched are either live or british ones, and not waiting ages to watch a load of shows so can get my moneys worth.

Originally was going to get just the v20 but its still 1399

http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Panasonic+50V20+Freeview+HD+Freesat+HD,+Plasma+TV/140638412,default,pd.html?cm_mmc=Googlebase-_-Electricals-_-TV_Audio_and_Technology-_-Panasonic_50V20_Freeview_HD_and_Freesat_HD_Plasma_TV

Its basically my model without the 3d. Decided if I was going to blow that on a tv I might as well pay the bit extra and get it.

Personal preference though, I wanted the best current generation tv for the money. The v20 series is basically a Pioneer Kuro set which is regarded as the best plasma just rebadged and cheaper.

Content is going to be a cunt for a while though :/

wouldn't it have made sense to get content and then the TV? By the time there are things to watch the sets will be cheaper or better ones will be the same price, rather than buying now and waiting for things to make it worth its while. Sky is 62.20 a month isn't it to get the 3D? Can't see me ever paying that much for a TV service! Bad enough now paying 49 or so for the XL TV, M phone and XL broadband with virgin, and I've already got my 12 month anniversary marked on the calendar so i can start to lawyer their retentions team to get that halved in Jan!

Pixmania had the one you have got for 1500 last night, but you obviously don't get the bluray player or the 5 year warranty with it, but neither would be a huge loss to me personally as other than my xbox and NC10 I don't think I've ever had to get anything sent back for a warranty repair, and neither were of massive consequence.

I got 200, some biscuits, chocolates and a new onesie off me rents.

Off the blokey I got a lovely swarovski bracelet to match the ring I have, a swarovski pen, a dog (wearing a United kit!) from the Build A Bear Factory (he did feel like a slight paedo on Christmas Eve Eve in there for over an hour and a half), an AWESOME Panda Hoody, some more biscuits (theme?!), a naughty dressing up outfit, some rather tasty flavoured lube (haha), and Series 1, 2 and 3 of The Big Bang Theory.

AND there's still a present stuck in the post somewhere, woop woop!

Plus, I didn't give him food poisoning for Christmas, which is good.
