A Serious Man
« on: December 15, 2009, 05:38:44 pm »

Possible the worst Coen brothers film to date in my opinion. One guy at the flicks last night was chuckling like a stupid mad man at attempts of dark non-human. It really was epically disappointing, even my girlfriend who is a massive Coen brothers fan couldn’t defend it. It had the most pointless storyline, I felt like I wasted a few hours of my life watching it.

Avoid like the plague.

I heard you have a compilation of every good song ever done by anybody. Every great song by the Beach Boys. All the underground hits. All the Modern Lovers tracks. I heard you have a vinyl of every Niagra record on German import. I heard that you have a white label of every seminal Detroit techno hit - 1985, '86, '87. I heard that you have a CD compilation of every good '60s cut and another box set from the '70s.

it's 8.1 on IMDB and 87% on rotten tomatoes 1ith 144 positive reviews to 21 rotten. almost every review I've read has said while it's not their best work, it's pretty good.

I havent seen it, so i'm not in a position to comment, just saying see things for yourself rather than deciding something will be bad because 2 people didnt like it as the consensus seems to be that this is decent so you might like it afterall.

I never ever read reviews ashe, specially on rotten tomatoe.

I think i worded that wrong to be honest, i meant i hadn't seen much on it other than actually going on cineworld.co.uk to look at what was on.

No ones opinion has stopped me going before either so just coz i probably wouldn't i'd probably change my mind.

so yeah, my first post was stupid

well done me :D

why especially on rotten tomatoes? If theres any site to read surely that's one of the best because it is usually very harsh and gives a cross section of what the reviews have said, rather than just one opersons opinion. I dont let reviews stop me seeing a film either but will often use them to pick what I'm going to see next if I cant decide.

for that reason, there's been plenty of films I liked that got poor ratings by rotten tomatoe, probably is the best.

if its more credible it'll have a bigger influence.

if that makes sense.

Rotten Tomatoes is probably the best place for reviews but let like I said I really thought it was a very average. That's why it disappointed me so much because I think the Coen brothers work is normally on the money. I just really didn't see what there was to like about this film, it didn't make me laugh which is what I normally expect from the Coen's dark humour. Anyway that's just my opinion, everyone's entitled to one.

If you do go see it let me know what you think though  :thumb Haha.
