New Odeon with Imax 3D - Gateshead
« on: December 09, 2009, 05:56:26 pm »

Odeon are opening a new cinema on the 16th December at the Metro Centre that looks very smart. It's also got 3D and Imax 3D so it'll save people travelling to Bradford to get decent 3D quality if that's what floats your boat. I've had to pull a big lie out of the bag to get a refund on my non-refundable tickets for Bradford Imax for Avatar and I've just purchased them for this place.

This place looks like it's going to be the bees knees

I heard you have a compilation of every good song ever done by anybody. Every great song by the Beach Boys. All the underground hits. All the Modern Lovers tracks. I heard you have a vinyl of every Niagra record on German import. I heard that you have a white label of every seminal Detroit techno hit - 1985, '86, '87. I heard that you have a CD compilation of every good '60s cut and another box set from the '70s.

To be honest looking at Avatar on the free zune clip on live it looks like a bad computer game visually but i've never seen a 3D film so i'm gonna give it a look.

It looks like the sort of film you can only see at a 3D IMAX, otherwise it's pointless. Given how much money has been invested in it as well bet the studio is praying they don't need to rely on DVD sales

With Avatar it looked cool when there was just a couple of clips kicking around but the more you see it the more bollocks it looks.

That said a North East IMAX sounds mega!

I've thought that too. I think James Cameron is going to massively dissapoint me. Lets be fair, it isn't going to meet the heights of Terminator or Aliens which are the unfortunately high yard stick for his films.

Edit: But Yes, North East IMAX whoop!

I'm gonna give it a chance. Who knows it might look totally different on the big screen in 3D?

This place is amazing. Okay so I went to see Avater there which blew me away so that helps it but the actually place is pretty smart. An excluse over 18's bar and chillout area, the fact that you can take alcholoic and soft drinks and food into the Imax screens themselves unlike Bradford and the fact that they have a ton of helpful staff on hand.

I went with a group of 12 and one of the group lost his ticket for Avater. The staff checked the booking on the system as we had paid by card and confirmed within 2 minutes that we had bought a ticket, issued my mate a replacement one and seen him to his seat. I'll definitely be going to see future big releases there again.

Went to go today but only avalible seats were in the first row so going to wait till after xmas. What are the benefits of the gallery tickets for the Imax? Other than the exclusive bar.
