Improve your WoW+Gaming latency
« on: October 30, 2008, 04:29:24 pm »
Flinty showed me a thread about this and I tried it, my average latency in WoW has gone from anything from 140 - 230 to 30 - 50 which is incredible, nor am I suffering any packet loss as a result of this fix.

NOTE - For this to work on VISTA you need Service Pack 1 installed or a hotfix that's floating around the net somewhere.  Flinty's link had it in but I can't find it again.

Type "regedit" in windows "run.." (or in Vista you can type it in the Start Search bar) dialog to bring up registry menu.

Then find:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\

When you're into that section there will be folders with names that look like long strings of numbers and letters.  Click on the one that has all the info for your internet connection.

Once you're in there right click on an empty spot on the right window list and goto New > DWord and name it "TcpAckFrequency".

Once you've created it right click it, goto Modify and with the type set as Hexidecimal set the value to 1.

Restart your computer and go into WoW and tell me if it worked for you.
