This place is Drum & Bass
« on: May 21, 2008, 12:47:14 am »

Please ignore all fliers saying this place is an alt night, They play about 4 alt night (Something like slipknot, papa roach, soil, etc.) This is not an alternative night! AT ALL!

what?

What is an alternative night?

are you talking about tonight? Drum and Bass...?! There was some daft punk, pendulum - as is played in every "alt club" around and perhaps one other band that some people might call "drum and bass". Unless you mean fridays, where they play drum and bass ;)

I was quite drunk when this was written, But the point still stands...I wasn't impressed by the amount of alt music to the other sort of music (Maybe not Drum & Bass but something along that sort of TECHNO TECHNO stuff) ratio,

But then again there is thread on here telling people off for Moshing....

How come you closed earlier anyway?

Ah, the eternal 'Alternative' club dilemma - people bitching regardless of what you play ("It's not metal enough", "no play all this obscure stuff only I would dance to" etc). I've been going to Ziggys for nearly 10 years now and there's ALWAYS been a bit of dance/hip-hop/indie/very occasionally pop thrown in there, in varying amounts.
What sort of stuff does Glittergod want to see played there? (I'm curious rather than seeking to have a go)

I'm into all sorts, From death metal to cyber.  I mostly want to be able to get up and sway my head about abit. So when the likes of Soil and slipknot etc. come on it's appreciated. But i'm sure when you were at that club 10 years ago they played soil - halo then too.

I'm not dissing the club, as the Dj finished the place early so maybe there not getting many people in, so are having to apply to a bigger audience by playing none alternative stuff.

Maybe I went to this place with High hopes as there are a lack of Alt bars in the week, So I thought the ones that do exist would be making a concious effort to be....an alternative bar.

tuesdays at ziggys back in the early 90's oasis blur etc, mashed up with rock n dance n everything.

we were playing pendulum drum n bass etc before it exploded... a few years back....

we've always done an alt - ernative to the mainstream clubs... make of that what you will.

we're always pushing new records bands sounds and scenes before/as they happen.

but we always try and play what the customers want too.... even if its mostly the same songs, not just artists, week in week out...over years...

though we do try and rotate it.

anyway if you dont like it, don't come. simple as.

long live the new scene.

but i have to say thank you for your feedback, we do appreciate it!

not in york though....

i would be interested in where they were and when...

and what day of the week...

at the end of the day anyclub night you go to anywhere you can have a great time in, if you're with the right group of friends... so we're aware of the rose tinted glasses syndrome too...

we wont be offended, just say what you gotta say!

Last thing I'm trying to do is offend, Maybe this is what the alt scene in york through the week, But as it's the same blackout that is on at fibbers on saturrday night, which I go to and love, I thought it would of been the same. I've been to places In middlesbrough through the week, Cardiff Thursdays, Bridgend, Leeds, Darlington etc. But I guess every where is different.

As soon as download has finished I'll come check it out again, Maybe you play completely different sets each week?
