Local Bands
« on: June 12, 2007, 12:34:00 pm »

Hi :D

We asked to play at the festival, and we've not heard anything back yet. Have the local bands already been booked and is it a case of tough luck?

Or has no one heard anything yet?

Phil

Hello Phil,

Sorry mate - we're packed out solid; we've had to turn loads away. :(

To be honest we haven't had much audience response in the past for the rockier stuff; that's why we get Mal to programme a live BuRn night on the Friday.

It's also why I programmed a whole slice of MML for the heavier bands.

I got an idea, rather than playing the same line up every year why dont you give fresh bands a chance, all  i ever hear around festival time is about local bands that never had a chance cos they arent personal friends with the organisers

we never played last year and i know at least one of the organisers thinks me and our bass player are tits.

Who would you like to see out of interest?

Im not really fussy about who is on and im not saying there is anything wrong with any of the bands that are playing, i will probably go and enjoy it regardless, i just think that it would be nice to see more new names on the line up rather than the usual suspects

I think it's good that gradually year by year some of the better bands....DARTZ!/15 minutes society/The Lurios get higher and higher up the line-up.

That's promising.

Admittedly, with you saying that lots of local bands moan about not getting a chance, a good chunk of local bands are 10/10 shit.
Spread between MML & Fringe I can't think of anyone who hasn't been covered ?

Im just saying it would be nice to see a few more new bands as most the bands playing at MML & Fringe are the same ones you see at either Ku Bar, The Georgian, or ARC unsigned nearly every week

sorry mate i think there was plently of "new" bands on the bill, such as my band, grandmas house, the alberts, and there were alot of acoustic acts that were on that havent had a chance to play before, your not gonna get a band that have never played somewhere else before, or else how would they draw a crowd?
