THE SUNSHINE UNDERGROUND @ Play @ The Empire Sat 5th May

THE SUNSHINE UNDERGROUND
SAT 5 MAY / PLAY / MIDDLESBROUGH EMPIRE

EARLY BIRD TICKET OFFER / £8 / DOORS 7:30PM

What are The Sunshine Underground? Indie? A little. Dance? Maybe. Nu-Rave? Could be.

In fact The Sunshine Underground are all these things and more. They write songs filled with passion and pomp, each guitar lick, each drum beat is jam-packed full of energy, soul and an urgency which can elate you to a point of literal euphoria. I dare you to hear ‘Put You in Your Place’ and not feel the urge to jump up and down grinning, wide-eyed like a pilled up Cheshire Cat.

This one is gonna be bigger than a giant sat on his mates shoulders with his mate wearing stilts on a stepladder…REALLY big.

‘Buy, beg, steal, borrow or MySpace it, just do whatever it takes to get yourself a piece of the underground.’ – NME

‘Vocals soar and reverb throughout, pulling you in different directions with every beat; 'Put You in Your Place' is a potential dance floor filler of immense proportions.’ – thisisfakediy.co.uk

Support from odd-ball, merchants of electronic-indie-pop Metronomy, who sound like Fischer-Spooner being pumped directly through Prince while Bowie hums along. Very interesting indeed.

Saw Metronomy at Astoria last night.
Thought they were totally amazing.

Like, with the music, pre-song banter, and performance.

Quality act. Hopefully go down right well with SU.

Never mind the botox!! Chewing up hip-hop, dub, techno, ska and punk and spitting them out in a renegade futuristic skank Barry Ashworth and Jason O'Bryan aka The Dub Pistols have spent the best part of a decade at the forefront of Beats culture and added a much needed rock 'n' roll swagger to the UK's dance scene.

Yeah, and who haven't they done stuff for … Moby, Bono, Korn, Ian Brown, Busta Rhymes – that enough for ya? Third album 'Speakers & Tweeters' featuring Terry Hall, Rodney P, Blade and Dub Pistol T.K Lawrence is out on Rob Da Bank's Sunday Best label on April 9...
