subliminal advertising
« on: December 21, 2004, 06:50:39 pm »

Does it work?

i was just watching tv, and an incredibly quick message appeared, nothing at all to do with tv or...................... WAIT A MINUTE...... they've just explained they were doing it as a test (braniac on sky) ARGH BASTARDS.

i saw it said something like thirsty or something... hmmmmm........ yeah they just said "YOU ARE THIRSTY"

to be honest none of them seemed to work at all... and it's not very subliminal if i fucking noticed it was it, and i was hardly concentrating on the tv too hard.

did a quick google about it and not seen anything that seems to actually work  :-\

oh well there goes my hopes of being able to brainwash the nation...

so maybe it doesn't work  unless there was a "POST ON HAXED ABOUT SUBLIMINAL ADVERTISING flashed up

Yeah, I thought the whole point was you aren't meant to notice them :-\

..and isn't it illegal anyway? .. uh.. although if that was right then I guess you'd have to be able to notice them in order for them to be banned/monitored in the first place. :cookytrainershavetonguesofdoom

well if you went through frame by frame then you'd notice.

smmmoooooookeeee

and also it's illegal to advertise in that way, probably not to use it in a program for a laugh.

I am.

It's illegal so they obviously can't do it properly. However it does work. So does embedding "hidden" messages into tape recordings.

yeah its illegal in this country so they wont do it properly

its usually so quick your concious mind wont notice it but they do it a few times with in a short period for the same thing for example "you are thirsty" your subconcious takes note of this, then they have the option to strategically place an advert by say 'coca cola' so you will be urged to think ah i fancy some coke

but they weren't advertising, so maybe it's not illegal?

or is any subliminal messaging of any kind illegal? i dont know..

so yeah... my original point still stands really, does it work?  alot of what i've seen just seems to show that it doesn't work very well.

Yes, yes it does. If you ever get bored and have a pc hooked up to a TV edit an avi so that a message appears for about 1/16 of a second or even less, then have that several times. If you have friends round and show them it you're onto a money winner

Is kinda scary if it doies work like. Makes me feel even less significant than normal, if some flashy mmessage can affect my subconscience :-\
