Yeah, it's on the 2nd. 5 comics on including the simply gorgeous, Jonathon Mayor.
Think Graham Norton, x10, sprinkle liberally with glitter and you'll get somewhere close to him.

Headline is Danny Deegan, an Andy 'Shotgun' Sugden look-a-like. He stormed a boro gig I ran ealier in the year.
Should be good.

Cheers all, I'll pass on the comments to the acts.

Well, it's good to see the club has created some discussion amongst all of you.

Regarding Karen from the beeb. Kitten, from where I was standing, she looked like she enjoyed the night. I saw her laughing and I've spoke to her recently, she loves the night and is going to be a firm supporter of it. I feel the review reflects the night in a positive light so on a personal note, I'm more than happy with it.

The night is only new at The Kubar. We moved from Traders after 2 yrs due to artistic differences, actually, the new landlord was a cock.

Regarding the quality of acts. They will always vary. The bulk of the entrance money goes towards the headline acts fee. These are professional comics who work the UK scene. The rest of the night is made up of acts working their way up the ladder. Some are going to be better than others, I can tell you that in Sept, one of the acts isn't very good, but with stage time, he will get better. The Funny Magnet operates a policy of encouraging anyone to have a go, unlike the corporate companies such as Jongluers or the Store. That's why Carl G was given a gig straight away and he's more than welcome back.

I do hope you recommend the night to your friends. We've got some excellent nights coming up.

2nd Sept: Danny Deegan and Jonathon Mayor (main acts) Both very good +support

7th Oct: Freaks Outing, if you don't piss your pants at this act, i'll give you your money back myself +support

4th Nov: Headline is Dan Nightingale. Remember his name, in a year or twos time, he'll be bigger than Ross Noble and you'll be able to say you saw him at The Kubar. The most naturally gifted stand up comic I've seen. I won't be able to afford him soon +support

2nd Dec: Des Clarke. God knows how I got him for the price. Took over from Ant&Dec on SM:TV, works for the beeb as a presenter sometimes. Getting back to his roots. All scottish acts this night.

They'll be a Xmas special on the 16th, with all paid acts and a guest compere...me.

We're also looking at a new monthly competition night, souly to encourage new acts. It's based on The Gong show from The Store and they'll be some prize money for the winner. It's also going to be free entry. I'll post details nearer the time.

Cheers for the comments about the night. Keep them coming, positive or negative.
