I forgot this year :(

Regardless, it's a good cause & worth donating.

what's the houses of parliament other that 'them all in one place'?

Protecting a single location where only a limited number of people have business being is a lot easier than protecting 100+ individual locations not designed for security in public areas.

Whilst teleconferencing would in theory make the whole travelling issue disappear, only salesmen from Cisco/Belkin would argue that a teleconference could truely replace a face to face meeting. the scale and comlexity od such a system to replace the commons would be astronomical and have it's own security problems.

Excellent point Jack. It could be done much cheaper and more efficiently. No one on earth ever needs a second home, no matter what your job is.

If their job requires them to regularly work in two (or more) distant locations, they do need a home at each place. The managed apartment block approach would likely work for MPs because there are so many of them and the cost comes down due to economies of scale. Second homes would be much cheaper than regular hotel rooms for a smaller number of people, not to mention the need for people to have their own space - living out of a suitcase for work purposes is very different from being on holiday.

Split the thread cos it was gonna subsume the general one.

I'm getting a bit annoyed at the scripting errors. I'm getting responses from some characters that refer to stuff that clearly hasn't happened yet :(

All is forgiven though as the little references and in jokes are great. Just twigged the Neuromancer one that was staring me in the face for half an hour ::) Just had a total cringeing laugh as I decided to help recruit some prostitutes ... 'Fisto' the sexbot is just soooo wrong :o :o :o :laugh

I got some of their chocolates and peanut butter sauce too. They aren't made with infinities though, but still pack a nice taste :)

Pretty much the hottest thing in a bottle. The Chillies are rated at over 1.1 million scovilles. The sauce has a bit too much lime in it for my taste, but you soon forget about that. Awesome!

R2D2 and C3PO break into a Currys shop. Well written and proper interaction between the two droids, obviously done by SW fans ... can the team behind this be given a lead role in whatever Lucas does next please?

Fallout new vegas. oh yeah

Oh yeah indeed. Did you get the Wild Wasteland perk? If not, restart with it, some really nice touches that'll make you grin. There's loads of references to films and whatnot - I've just finished decoding a genius Sneakers reference :D

Back to the wasteland ..

Gotta bump for Daft Punk video/trailer :D

I am being serious and I'm not trying to justify things like flipping of second homes duck houses. The reason for the expenses system though was to make up for the fact that salaries had been frozen at an artificially low level years ago, the only major issue was the lack of transparency. Personally I think the expenses limit should've been added on to their salaries and the system itself cancelled.

That sounds fine until you realise that they will effectively get paid more for doing less work. MPs need and should be travelling to and from London several times a week to do their job to the best of their ability, taking parts in debates, votes and meetings and being accessible to their constituents. If each trip results in them having less dough to themselves at the end of a month, they'll do the absolute minimum necessary travel and become pretty much ineffective.
Second home allowance is another matter. Yes, they do need a place to call home in London, but it can be done much cheaper and potentially better... Build a managed apartment compound with enough room for all 'travelling' MPs and good access to Westminster. Add in a restaurant with a couple of decent chefs and private dining and communal facilities, private meeting rooms and offices, give them a reasonable personalisation/decoratioon allowance and you're all set. It also makes the security arrangements for MPs a lot cheaper too.

I know we used to take plenty of drunk up for it lasses back in the Blaises and Arena days, but at least we had the decency not to make a website purely around them.

Of course, the whole idea is crass, tacky and juvenile ... oh, alright then!  ;D

Nan bread was OK though, not as salty as Akbar's and the service was good. shame about the main course.
