General / DialAPhone / Carphone Warehouse / Phones4u
« on: February 25, 2011, 12:14:00 am »
Basic question, anyone used any of the above companies?

My contract is up soon and I'm pretty sure on the phone I want(either Blackberry Torch or HTC Desire Z(good shout from Robbie!)), the only problem is to get a decent deal through T-Mobile it'll cost me roughly £40+ a month for the phone I want, and haven't found many better offers with other companies directly.

Through Dial-a-phone I can get a pretty good deal on texts and minutes, with 500mb internet & unlimited BB mail(for the Torch) for roughly £20 a month. Usually I wouldn't touch these companies because of the horror stories you read, but the massive difference is making it very tempting.

Reading reviews online the majority are horror stories, but then again I think your more likely to write a review about a bad experience rather than a good experience.

Any help would be appreciated, ta!

My Sony Ericsshit has been a joke since I bought it, but its recently got alot worse to the point where its impossible to live with. Took it in today and got told that it wont be covered so in desperate need for a phone.

I'll have one to get me by but its only a lend, so looking to replace as soon as possible. Got about £130 to spend, needs to be able to work with T-Mobile and apart from that I don't need much else. Phones basically used for calls and texts, no internet, not even camera or anything really.

I like my phones to be quite slim, easy to use and reliable. Reliable is very important after my last two phones, and although they were both Sony Ericssons i'd give them another chance.

If anyones got anything for sale, or even can recommend a phone give us a shout.

Tried a couple of different shows on 4od and happens with them all, it'll play the adverts at the begining then close the window when the programs about to start. The 4od website says its something to do with ad block, but I don't have an ad blocker and although i'm running Norton Internet Security 2007, I can't find any options/sign that theres an ad blocker included.

BBC iPlayer and the ITV website all work fine, just 4od that i'm having the problems with.

Anyone have ideas?

Got me new laptop, shot outlook express on it and set everything up. Only thing is, is its bringing up every e mail since the begining of 2005. Os their anyway to set it up to just work on new e mails from now on? Or will I have to bring through the lot?

Games, Computers and Tech Issues / Wanted - Cheap Laptop
« on: October 22, 2008, 11:36:01 am »
My computers beyond its last legs at the minute, and i'd find it a nightmare to do any work without it. So gonna have to dig deep and buy a replacement I think. Probably go with a laptop as i'll be moving about a fair bit from now on.

It'll be mainly used for Playing/Burning/downloading music, wireless internet and probably watching the odd movie on or whatever. So don't really need a beast by any means. Would want to stick with XP and think thats it really.

Any help would be classic, ta.

General / Run a club night? Know whats going on or goto Prison.
« on: October 15, 2008, 06:00:53 pm »
Been following this story a bit for a while, didn't think it'd end like this.

In short... A DJ(Tom Costelloe) & Club Owner(Manoucehr Bahmanzade) have both been imprisoned for 5 and 9 years respectively because of drugs been sold in a club they work/run. 8 drug dealers were arrested the same night, all got less prison time than the two, even though the judge acknowledged that the DJ didn't have any knowledge about the drugs been sold and no previous.

Full story: http://www.mixmag.net/content/day-music-stopped

Absolutely mental really, using a law brought in to get at Crack Houses to close down night clubs and completely ruin the lifes of Club Owner Manouche, and also Costello, who has a young family which is now struggling big time. While people who are involved with knife crime &, well lets face it actually commiting any crime at all(What did Costelloe do wrong?) are getting away with community service or less. Absolute joke.

You know on Itunes, where you can only copy one playlist 7(I think it is) times with Itunes mp3s in before it kinda locks it up, is their anyway to turn that off or get around it?

I've doubled up on the last track which gets around it, but its not really a way of doing it when the CDs already full.

Its really just with the CDs I use for DJing, the rate they get damaged most of them are at the limit, so it'd be really helpful. Its getting towards 200 CDs here and I can't really change the tracklistings of them...

Its well annoying.

Ask/Tell Haxed / XBox Vrs Wii
« on: July 02, 2008, 05:13:47 pm »
My birthdays in a couple of weeks, and even though i've mentioned  i'd like a little help getting a mixer, my mam keeps going back to games console just as shes getting a bit bored of her DS... hmm hmm hmm! Anyway I'm starting to be turned and can't decide as I want a Wii, but can see an Xbox been interesting for longer.

Unless anyones got an arguement for above, I really guess I just need help on Xbox's.

Is the red light thing a real problem? like how often do they usually last before this happens, and do you have much trouble getting it sorted when it goes?

Premium or Elite? Its not going to be used massively(I had my PS2 for 3 years before giving it away, and in that time only had Fifa 06 & GTA. Probably for this Xbox i'll just be getting Pro Evo & GTA...), doubt i'll even bother with the online/live stuff or be storing much on it so is their much point going for the Elite?

Anything else I need to know about 'em before buying?

Thanks in advance :)

Ask/Tell Haxed / I'm upgrading my phone, need advice...
« on: April 18, 2008, 01:32:37 pm »
Right so just checked online about an upgrade, after checking in the shop constantly after my old phone got err ran over and been told constantly its not worth checking as you've gotta wait til you've only got a month left on your contract. Well they were wrong, helpful cunts. Now i've got that out of my system...

I'm looking at these, anyone heard anything good or bad? If i'm honest, i'm thick as fuck with phones.

Motorola MOTORAZR≤ V8 - Had the old version of this (V3) for a year about 2 years ago. Really good for me, had everything I needed and easy to use. Its available free on upgrade.

Sony Ericsson W880i - This is the one I had after the Motorola(and the one that got ran over). Again very happy with it, only trouble I had, and it was very annoying was that everytime you put it down any other way than like a feather it would turn off. It also seems only the Silver is available, which i'm not keen on. This is also Free.

LG Viewty - This looks good, far more than i'd need but I'd be able to use it pretty much for everything. The only thing is, it seems the reviews suggest its either loved or hated. This would cost me £10.

Nokia N95 - Not much needs to be said, pretty much as above but at £60 it seems like alot of wasted money, especially since i'm not on Web n' Walk so alot of the internet based features would be pointless.

I'm quite keen on the Viewty as going by the good reviews it seems perfect, also i'd quite like a different phone than i've had before. But the bad reviews make it seem like the most pointless and annoying phone ever.

Any help or anything would be well good like. Ta.

Edit. Oh yeah, if anyone has any other suggestions i'm all ears. I like smallish phones, apart from that I only need things like vibrate(pretty much always around loud music...) and easy to use. Easily pleased as.

Ask/Tell Haxed / Hair Straighteners
« on: October 24, 2007, 01:47:28 pm »
I know everyones going to be  :aloadofbollocks GHDs GHDs  :aloadofbollocks but I can't really justify paying close to a hundred quid for hair straighteners, especially when my (shitty) Nicky Clark ones have done alright for as long as I can remember.

I haven't got overly curly hair at all, just need something thats going to tidy it up n' what not, and not completely fuck my hair.

I was looking at these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Braun-Satin-Satinliner-Hair-Straighteners/dp/B000NOOB3U/ref=sr_1_21/026-1386822-4802042?ie=UTF8&s=personal&qid=1193231862&sr=8-21 , which seem alright from the reviews n' what not.

Anyone got any recommendations or used the above?

Anyone used this before?

Seems they don't keep much older stock, but for new releases it can be quite good it seems. Alot for £6.99 delivered n' what not. Finally signed up after looking after CDs on it a million times then thinking it looked dodgy as fuck. Haven't found anything in stock that I need yet to try ordering anything mind.

What they like for delivery? Used to always use CD-wow but then after the troubles it went from recieving stuff within 3 days, to a week+ which is just a bit shit really.

Games, Computers and Tech Issues / Firefox closing / virus?
« on: September 14, 2007, 09:23:50 am »
It only started this morning, but about 3 times Firefox has just closed with no reason or error message. Scanned for a virus but didn't find anything, got AVG & Zone Alarm running and upto date...

Any ideas?

Ask/Tell Haxed / Watching TV programs online?
« on: August 20, 2007, 12:38:42 pm »
I'm probably just been blind, as you can watch Match of the Day online i'm sure, but can't seem to find a link to the full program on the BBC site for MotD or MotD2, just clips. Can anyone point me in the right direction or sites that have high quality streams?
