General / Save our Tree-house!
« on: May 13, 2008, 06:58:13 pm »
As anyone who has me on Facebook will know, I've been helping to build a tree-house with some of my old uni housemates for the past few years, on the farmland in Norfolk where one of them lives. We're trying to do it as cheap as possible, using thrown out material and basically any junk we find lying around. It's coming along pretty nicely, it has 2 floors and even a balcony, and we recently finished the roof. However, everything is not running as smoothly as we'd like. Or at all.

Somehow, the council found out about it, and informed us that we'd need planning permission, which we applied for and almost succeeded in, getting quite a lot of attention from the local media. The first council meeting stated that the tree house could remain, as long as it was judged that it didn't go against a policy about "countryside development", for which a second meeting had to take place. It was then judged that it did indeed break this rule, and would have to be destroyed.

So now we are appealing against the decision. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that a tree house is being considered as "countryside development", it's not as if it's doing anyone any harm by being there. I'm sure their policy wasn't written with with tree-houses in mind, and if you can't build a tree-house in the countryside, where the hell can you build one!? We've put a lot of hard work into this and we'd hate to see it go, just because it is deemed to be breaking an irrelevant rule.

The new project from Billy Howerdel (A Perfect Circle)

http://www.myspace.com/ashesdivide

Anyone else heard this yet? I'm really enjoying it, he's no Maynard but I still think he does a good job singing. Favourite tracks are The Stone, Enemies, Defamed and Sword. Too Late is the only weak track in my opinion. If you like APC and haven't heard this yet then do so, you shouldn't be disappointed.

Downloaded this a week or so ago, not sure what I think of it yet. It's very good, but kinda lacking something I think. Not their best anyway, In my opinion.

Anyway, you can now listen to it in full on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/deftones

Games, Computers and Tech Issues / computer knackered - won't start
« on: September 09, 2006, 03:45:51 pm »
When I try to turn it on it just beeps at me repeatedly. My initial thoughts are that the motherboard is fucked. Any ideas?

Oh and I have been told that "the sequence of bleeps will tell you what the error is". If anyone could tell me which beeps mean what that would be helpful.

Well i've been back for hours already anyway so there's no way I'm the first back, however I see no thread so I decided to make one. Yay.  :dance

Tonight was okay. Not great, not bad. I keep turning up later every week, it's getting ridiculous. Oh well. Um I guess I don't have much else to say.  :wtf

The Art Forum / Draw with your eyes closed

Saw this idea on SA and thought it looked fun so I stole their idea.

Open up MSPaint, close your eyes and try to draw whatever you feel like. It's pretty fun seeing how disproportionate and misplaced things can end up.

Here's my attempt at Sonic the Hedgehog:

Music / Limp Bizkit - new cd
« on: April 15, 2005, 01:29:11 pm »
Limp Bizkit have a new CD coming out very soon, and there's a video for a new song on www.limpbizkit.com. It's pretty interesting, definitely different from their previous stuff, a bit of a RATM influence, I think it sounds great.

Jokes & Comedy / Chavs caught in the act
« on: March 12, 2005, 09:45:21 am »
I happened to browse out the window one day and saw some chavs across the street. My housemate grabbed his trusty camera to take a few pics when all of a sudden they decide to commit a badly timed crime. He then decided to put it into flash movie form, enjoy:
